Chuck Cole finally let someone else win Player of the Week in Scottsdale

Cole

Chuck Cole had 26 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists this past week in a 68-65 win for Dreamville in the Scottsdale Draft League. While this was another great performance from Cole, as he helped Dreamville get to 4-0 this season, it wasn’t good enough to earn Player of the Week honors.

That award went to DJ Hurd this week, as he had 41 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists in a 106-103 victory for Double Double. It’s a deserved honor for Hurd, but I don’t think Cole will be too upset that he was out-voted in Week 4, as he had been named the Player of the Week in the first three weeks of the season in Scottsdale.

Here’s a look at Cole’s first three weeks.

Week 1: 39/13/7 on 15-25 shooting from the field and 6-14 from deep

Week 2: 30/10/10 on 11-23 shooting from the field and 6-13 from deep

Week 3: 36/12/10 on 11-20 shooting from the field and 6-11 from deep

If you add in his Week 4 performance, his season averages now sit at 32.8/12.3/9.3 with shooting splits of 50/43/88, putting him just two percentage points from being in the 50/40/90 club. These aren’t empty numbers either, as Dreamville has won every game so far this season, and three of those games were decided by three points or fewer.

This has been Cole’s best all-around season in his career thus far, and we’ll see if it continues into the draft tournament. The furthest any of his teams have gone in the tournament is the elite eight in years past. If he can maintain this type of play, there’s a good chance he and Dreamville can get further than that.
