Who's Hot: DJ Hurd is on an absolute tear

DJ Hurd

DJ Hurd

Here’s a look at the five hottest players in UH Nation from the past week.

1. DJ Hurd +15,525,273

Hurd has been a monster all season, putting up good numbers in both the Gilbert and Tempe draft leagues, leading to a combined 8-0 record midway through the season. His overall season has been good, but his last two games have been his best of the season. On Tuesday night in Tempe, Hurd went off for 28/7/12 on 9-14 shooting from the field and 5-9 shooting from deep. He followed that up on Wednesday night in Gilbert, going off for 51/11/11 on 17-24 shooting from the field and 11-15 from deep. He’s combined for 79 points, 18 rebounds and 23 assists in his past two games, making him easily the hottest player in UH.

2. Fred Dudley +13,754,570

Scoring 50-plus points and getting a triple-double is not very common, but the top two players on this list both pulled that off in their most recent games. Hurd did so with his 51/11/11 game in Gilbert, and Dudley did it last night in the Palm Valley Draft League. He had a triple-double of 52/17/12 on 21-35 shooting from the field, good enough for a PPR of 62.6. His other most recent game wasn’t bad either, as Dudley put up 27/8/10 in a 122-92 loss in Gilbert. Coincidentally enough, that loss came against Hurd.

3. Brendan McManus +13,628,091

McManus was featured in last week’s article and has not played in a game since, so no updates here.

4. Maleek Wood +11,952,247

Wood makes it onto the list for the third straight week, as he hasn’t played since the widget was first created two weeks ago. Smart move to stay hot by not playing.

5. Kenny Oakley +11,193,374

Oakley has been solid over his past two games, but his most recent game is the main reason he’s featured as one of the hottest players in UH Nation. In a 115-75 win in the Green Valley Rec League, Oakley put up 25 points and 16 rebounds on 11-22 shooting. It did come in a 5-on-4 game, but you have to take advantage of those opportunities when you get them.
