FRANKLIN:  Week 2 Predictions

DS vs Commissioner’s Choice

Bounce back time for DS coming off their first ever loss in U-Hoops history.  For DS standards it was a subpar defensive and shooting effort.  I expect a better shooting night from Gary Pesta, the biggest question will be the defensive effort.  Was this just running into the buzzsaw that is The Monstars or has DS lost the defensive chemistry that took them to the league title last year.  Commissioner’s choice is coming of a season open victory, but they’ll need a more complete game.  Team Choice came out of the gates strong, but had a long lull in the second half of their game where they did not score and allowed their opponent back in.  If they have another scoring drought, DS will put up too many points to overcome.  If Alex Sweet can stay out of foul trouble to force DS to play the length of the court and they can find get the scoring output from Zach Leonard, Marcus Williams, Jared Seaton, and Tyler Edwards they’ll have a chance.

Prediction:  DS by 11

Fly Agents vs The Monstars

The Monstars certainly announced their presence to the league and will look to continue their dominating ways.  Can Marcus Haislip score 30+ points again, can Chris Harris shoot 85+% from the field, and can the team shoot better than 60% from the floor.  If the answer to even two of those questions is yes, then the Monstars will rarely be on the losing side of a contest.  Tough matchup for the Fly Agents to draw in their first action.  Big men John Cantrell and Caleb Kleibscheidel will have their hands full with Marcus Haislip, it will be interesting to see how they decide to defend him.  For the Fly Agents to have a chance they will need to slow the pace down to limit The Monstars possessions and take advantage of all open looks.  Points can be had, but the Agents cannot afford to miss open opportunities because it appears that The Monstars rarely will miss theirs.

Prediction:  The Monstars by 22
