Atlanta's Sydney Long rediscovers her love of basketball

Three years ago, Atlanta’s Sydney Long was done with basketball.

After her college career wrapped at Oglethorpe University in 2019, Long has been searching to fill the void following a three-year hiatus of not touching a basketball.

“I missed playing, so I joined [the Ultimate Hoops League],” said Long.

Long has already established herself as one of the top shooters in the Sandy Springs Open Division. Last week Long scored 23 points, including 6-of-13 from behind the 3-point line in 10-Day’s 125-91 loss to the Playmakers.

When asked about her pre-game regimen, Long says her focus is getting off work in time to make it to the game. While acknowledging the high-competition level of the Sandy Springs League, Long believes chemistry is more important than talent in winning basketball games.

Expect Long, competing on the league’s Free Agent team this Summer, to receive some off-season offers to join an established franchise for Fall Season.

Long scored 23 points in her second Ultimate Hoops game.
