Marcus Bradley ties two Laguna records in an insanely productive performance

Setting a league record is a massive accomplishment, and something that most players never experience. If you’re good enough to set a record, it’s something that’ll likely happen once. If it happens twice or more, it’s likely going to happen over the course of a few seasons.

Marcus Bradley is an exception to these rules, as he tied two Laguna Draft League records last night in his sixth career Ultimate Hoops game.

He scored 70 points and grabbed 28 rebounds in a dominant 119-76 win for Trail Mix. This ties him with David Bagga for the single-game scoring record (which Bagga set on November 15, 2017) and Jeff Gomez for the single-game rebounding record (which Gomez set on May 23, 2016).

Bradley got to the 70 points mostly on two-point field goals. He shot 32-40 from the field and 4-7 from deep. A lot of these lofty scoring games are due to a lot of free throws, but that wasn’t the case here, as he only took three (and he made two of them). As for the rebounds, he got 18 of them on the defensive end and 10 on the offensive end.

The influx of new talent in Laguna has been overwhelming this season, as Bradley has a PPR of 45.6 through six games of his debut season. That’s good enough for the sixth-best PPR in UH Nation, but it’s not even the best in Laguna. That feat belongs to Taylor King, who’s PPR (55.5) is almost 10 points higher than Bradley’s. King’s PPR is the highest in UH Nation, and it is 8.4 points higher than Josh McCarver’s 47.1 in second.

Here’s a look at the season stats for both Bradley and King.

Bradley: 45.7 points and 13 rebounds with shooting splits of 68/52/76

King: 51 points and 16 rebounds with shooting splits of 61/43/61

Bradley is 4-2 in six games and King is a perfect 4-0 in four games (including a head-to-head win against Bradley and Trail Mix). It’ll be interesting to see where the two will end up by the end of the playoffs.
