It’s never a good sign when you lose to a team by more than the point total of the leading scorer on the opposing team. It’s an even worse sign when the leading scorer on the opposing team put up 67 points.

That’s what happened to Clutch Lake in the Baybrook Draft League last night, as Aaron Miller scored a career-high 67 points and helped lead Baseline to a 143-68 victory over Clutch Lake.

Any performance that ends with 67 points is impressive, but what Miller did last night is nearly impossible. He got to 67 points on only 31 shots, as he made 28 of them, including shooting 7-9 from deep and 4-4 from the free-throw line. Not only did he only take 31 shots, but he only played 30 minutes. That means Miller scored 2.23 points per minute, which is insane. He added seven rebounds, six assists and three steals to round out a truly dominant performance.

This more than doubles Miller’s previous season-high of 30 points, which he scored three separate times this season. This is also 21 points more than Miller’s previous career-high of 46 points, which he scored in his second UH game, a 92-86 win on October 15 of last year. This was another extremely efficient performance from Miller, as he scored 46 on 22 shots.

Coincidentally enough, that 46-point performance came against Zach Hamilton and Team Baybrook. While Miller’s Late-Entry won the game, Hamilton was still the leading scorer, as he had 50 to best Miller’s 46. Without even playing against Miller, Hamilton somewhat one-upped him again, as Miller’s 67 points is two shy of the Baybrook single-game record. That record belongs to Hamilton, as he scored 69 points in a 92-90 loss on July 30 of last year. Miller may not have gotten the record, but he did get a win last night, and he got to 67 on 11 fewer shots than it took Hamilton to get to 69.

While Miller fell just short of the single-game scoring record, one of his teammates did break a record last night in the blowout win. Ledon Green became the first player in Baybrook history to record five blocks in a single game. He finished the game with 22 points on 8-10 shooting and added seven rebounds and four assists.

Miller’s Baseline and Hamilton’s Team Baybrook both finished the regular season 7-1 and will head into the playoffs as the top two seeds. The ultimate bragging rights could be earned in three weeks if they end up facing each other in the championship game.
