It took me a few days to notice, but Kerry Knoll has passed Ultimate Hoops Hall of Famer Johnnie Brown to become the fourth highest-scorer in UH history.

Knoll officially passed Brown last Tuesday in the Summerlin Rec League, as he scored 30 points in a 129-89 loss in the quarterfinals. This put his career total to 10,940, putting him two points ahead of Brown. He followed that up with a 13-point performance in the Summerlin Vet League to put his total up to 10,953.

That puts Knoll 18 points ahead of Brown, but Knoll has been knocked out of both the rec and vet leagues in Summerlin, while Brown still has a possible two games to play in the Shelby Open League. Brown averages 15.1 points per game this season, so if that average holds, he would be just short of Knoll after Y-Lie plays in the semifinals on Wednesday. His team, Y-Lie, is 7-1 and favored to make it to the championship, so there’s a decent chance Brown will have two games to get 16 points and retake the fourth spot on the all-time scoring list.

Knoll has made a living behind the arc, as his 2,614 3-pointers made is the most in UH history. Unsurprisingly, 67% of his made field goals have come from deep. That means 72% of his points have come from deep, while 23% of his points have been on two-point field goals and 5% have been free throws. Considering how much Knoll relies on the 3-ball to score, it was fitting that in the game where he passed Brown on the all-time scoring list he took 27 shots…all of which were 3s.

There’a a chance Knoll will be back in fifth when the fall season starts, but if he stays in fourth he’ll have Chris Maher to chase to get into third. Knoll is currently 577 points behind Maher, who is averaging 21.8 points in Fridley this season. As long as Maher keeps on playing consistently, it’ll be a while before Knoll will have a chance to catch him.
