Team Classic picked up a 76-73 victory over Fearless last night in the MetroWest Draft League to move back to .500 on the season. It was an impressive win for Team Classic as they had to play without their team captain Jay Resto, who was sidelined with an ankle injury.

Resto has only been able to play in three of Team Classic’s six games this season, putting his status for next weekend’s National Tournament in question.

With Resto sidelined, it was two players set to play for Resto’s Team Classic in the National Tournament who put on a show in last night’s game: Mychal Parker and Shane Coleman.

Parker put up 26 and 16 while shooting 10-14 from the field to help Team Classic get the win. He also hit 6-7 from the free-throw line, including multiple clutch free throws at the end of the game to seal the victory for Team Classic.

Coleman was on the losing side, but it wasn’t because of his play. He scored 34 points on 12-22 shooting, including making five of the 11 3s he attempted. He made a 3 with 7.4 seconds left to cut the Team Classic lead to 74-73, giving Fearless a chance to possibly force overtime. Parker was fouled and hit both free throws, then Josh Adjei, who only scored one point in the game, stole the ball from Coleman to end the game.

It’ll be a blow for Team Classic in the National Tournament if Resto won’t be able to lace em’ up, but last night showed that Parker and Coleman are ready for the national stage.
