If you visit leagues.uhlife.com today you’ll notice a new widget in the center of the homepage. This is our new “Who’s Hot” widget, which displays the hottest players from across UH Nation based on a player’s Player Performance Value (PPV) over the past two games.

So what is PPV? It is a number calculated on a player’s stats over the course of their career to try and show how valuable they are to their team. The higher the number is, the more valuable they’ve been. Here is a look into how PPV is calculated.

PPV was designed to emulate a player’s salary in the NBA. The better a player is, the more they get paid, and the more cap space they take up. PPV has served a similar purpose in draft leagues across the country, as leagues use PPV to assign captains and to balance rosters.

Let’s dive in to the hottest players in UH Nation at the start of the fall season.

1. D’Andre Henderson (+12,078,725)

At an individual level, Henderson has had a phenomenal start to the season. He’s had a very similar output in his past two games, both played in the Green Valley Rec League, where he’s averaged 30/13/4 on 66% shooting from the field and 40% shooting from deep. Unfortunately for Henderson, his team, Rudedogs, has started the season 0-2.

A big reason Henderson has been the hottest player in terms of PPV is because of the minimal negatives he has in his performances. He’s only had 13 missed shots and one turnover in his last two games, which barely brings down all of the positive stats he’s compiled.

2. Maleek Wood (+11,952,247)

Wood’s last two games have come 392 days apart from one another (both in Alpharetta, one in an open league and one in a draft league), which puts a possible asterisk as having him among the hottest players in UH. Despite that gap, Wood has been awesome in his past two games. He’s averaged 26.5/11/3.5 on 58% shooting. Unfortunately for Wood, those two great performances have come in losses, just like Henderson. It is a bit ironic that a number that shows how valuable a player is has two players as the hottest in all of UH have a combined record of 0-4 in their past two respective games, but you can’t fault Henderson or Wood for those losses.

3. Michael Cornachio (+11,130,134)

Cornachio has not been as consistent as the first two players mentioned, but one of his performances was just so absurdly good that it gets him put on this list. In Week 1 in the Green Valley Vet B League, Cornachio put up 24 points, 23 rebounds (seven of them offensive) and eight assists. That’s 12.7 points more than his career average, 16.2 rebounds more than his career average and 5.8 assists more than his career average.

4. Josh Rollans (+9,833,727)

Rollans has been a monster early this season, and over his past two games he’s averaged 16.5/13.5/3.5 and 6.5 steals. He’s also averaged 6.5 offensive rebounds over the past two games, which adds more value to a player’s PPV than a defensive rebound, as an offensive rebound extends a team’s possession.

5. Tom Kokosinski (+9,517,530)

Kokosinski’s last two games span over the course of this season and the summer season. Before the Bergen County Open League opener last week, Kokosinski helped lead Andiamo to the summer championship with a 12-point, 10-rebound performance, shooting 6-11 from the field. He followed that up with another win this past week, putting up 17/18/6 on 4-7 shooting in a 69-60 win.
