CYPRESS: Week 3 Power Rankings

By: Kevin Gill | Cypress Media Associate

1. The Grim Reapers 2-0 (1)

The Grim Reapers will continue to hold my number-one spot for the power rankings here at Cypress after yet another quality showing. They currently rank first in PPG, AST, FG percentage, and FTA. That means they score, move the ball, get to the line and and take higher percentage shots better than anyone else in the league. No clear cut MVP yet but I’d say it’s a three man race between Travis Brown, Cody Rhorer, and James Wortham. It’s gonna be a tough out to beat this team because they’re LOADED like a bake potato!

2. Cypress Elite 1-1 (2)

Cypress Elite suffered their first loss of the season last week. Although that was the case, Cypress Elite should be encouraged because the game was close, even their best player Mark McGlone was ejected prematurely due to arguing with the officials. For the game to be that close, there should be some cause for concern for the rest of the league. Elite looks pretty good, but Mark does lead the team in every major statistical category, so I need to see more consistency around him

3. F.R.E.E. 1-1 (3)

F.R.E.E. remains in the number-three spot for this week. An impressive win last week nonetheless, but they shall remain there. Travis Laday has to be more efficient if he wants to get this team to the places they need to go (43 percent FG, 25 percent 3FG, 50 percent FT). The bright note on this franchise is they still currently are ranked first in points allowed and rebounds. It’s tough to score on these guys, but it’s tough for them to score as well.

4. Free Agents 0-2 (4)

Free Agents have struggled so far this winter season. As always with Free Agent teams, their biggest issue is cohesion and chemistry. Here are a few important stats I noticed so far. Fourth in PPG, third in PA, third in rebounds and their leading scorer Daveer Siddiqui  12.5 PPG, 8 RPG, 30 percent FGM, 29 percent 3PT, 100 percent FT. Outside the Free Throw Line Mr. Daveer has to be better in general. This team could be in for a long season.

Predictions

7 p.m. - Cypress Elite (1-1) vs Free Agents (0-2) | Cypress Elite by 11 points

8 p.m.- F.R.E.E. (1-1) vs The Grim Reapers (2-0) | The Grim Reapers by 7 points
