WESTMINSTER: Week 9 Power Rankings

By Greg Loomis | Westminster League Coordinator

1. Fire Squad Elite (6-1)

107- 72 Fire gets the Bucket Getterz and are on a five-game win streak. This has been Tyler Converse season as he dropped 38 points in the victory. Your boy is snapping necks and cashing checks y'all. Zach Snyder laid the groundwork as he had 25 total rebounds; still 6 boards away from 600 career rebounds. Holding No. 1 in points per game (110.0), steals (12.6), and rebounds (46.1) with one game left, I see them rolling into playoffs as the one seed.

2. Impact Basketball (6-1)

Impact picked up the easy W as Hand Down...Man Down only had two guys in the building. This is my first year of Ultimate Hoops and fourth season and Impact always seems to end up one or number two regardless if they take a loss or not. With the Under Dogs left on the schedule, they should see a rise in season totals and be fresh for the playoffs. No. 1 in points allowed at (76.0) and still one of the most dominant teams in the league. They are ready go.

3. Tha Crew (5-2)

Guess what team is No. 2 in points per game with 96.7 assists with 23.1 and steals at 7.9. They picked up a huge upset victory over MGTOW 108-82. Jaliel Randle is back adding another solid 32-point game and was 6-9 from deep. Duvalier Johnson added a double double with 19 points and 11 assists. I am telling you right now, this team has got a shot this season at putting up a banner if they keep this momentum up.

4. MGTOW (5-2)

MGTOW dropped to the 4 spot after losing to Tha Crew putting them at 5-2 this season. Marvin Augustin and Thomas Rowland combined for 61 of the 82 points scored but they couldn't slow Tha Crew down. Jaden Courage had one of his worst outings with only 8 points. They still rank third in points per game with 95.4 and second in rebounds with 44.1, so they still got a lot going for them. I see them ending in the same spot barring anything crazy yapping happening.

5. Oh Boy (4-3)

Oh Boy finally finding its groove with the W putting them on a two-game win streak. A five-point victory over the Long Shots with Eric Belsar, Aaron Townsend and Deandre Molden, all had 19 points. Showing the big three pulling together to right the ship before playoff time. They have a big game against Hand Down...Man Down that will decide where they end up. Jumping up to No. 2 in points allowed at 78.6, somehow Oh Boy has become a decent defensive team and holds strong at third in assists with 17.1 so everyone is getting their hands on the ball.

6. Long Shots (3-4)

Long Shots had a little stumble in their rumble up the rankings. Losing to Oh Boy by five hurts, but it was a tough fought game. Derek was 8 points away from his normal 30 and Josh Medina was 0-5 from deep. These guys need to pick it up as they have one game left and don't want to be in the bottom half. With a 42 percent shooting from the field they need to get out on top on teams early or they don't have enough defense. Even with Tyler Kloepfer with 2 blocks per game average.

7. Bucket Getterz (3-4)

Bucket Getterz took a 35-point loss to Fire Squad Elite last week. Myron Puryear went 7-26 from the field, just killing his season average. I think the three-week layoff may have hurt him. He did lead all scorers with 14 points, but that was about the best news we had from the Bucket Getterz. They are in the same boat with not wanting to finish in the bottom teams. Another win puts them at .500 for the season and putting them in with the rest of the pack.

8. Hand Down...Man Down (2-5)

What a turn of events for this group as week in and week out they were putting up a good battle but last week...they finally broke as they only had two members show up and had to take a forfeit. This puts them barely in the playoffs with two wins. They are going to need to find some bodies or there might not be a playoffs for this group.

9. The Hoopers (1-6)

The Hoopers were on bye and still sitting in the seventh spot.

10. Under Dogs (0-7)

Under Dogs were also on bye and hoping to pull off a W before the seasons end with a battle left with The Hoopers.
