Jay-Hawks Remain Final Unbeaten

1. Jay-Hawks (3-0) 

Another season, another Jay Phillips controversy. After assembling an All-Star team following the draft, the Jay-Hawks remain the final unbeaten team in Mount Laurel. Karon Waller, Jeff Kliewer and Phil Jackson is the toughest 1-2-3 punch in the league and it’s going to be difficult for anyone to top them. Expect the Jay-Hawks to stay atop the power rankings for the majority of the season.

2. Kobe’s Rebounders (2-1)

Kobe’s Rebounders had their first loss in Week 3 and it was a bad one. They were defeated by 43 points by the Jackrabbits despite a strong game from Damian Smith, who had 23 points and 5 rebounds on his way to a 15.9 PPR. That being said, they lost without Mike Kouser, who is the most dominant big man in the league. If Kouser was there, the score may have been a lot different, and they’re as tough to beat as anybody when he’s in attendance.

3. Jackrabbits (1-2)

The Jackrabbits started their season 0-2, but they didn’t have first-overall pick Mustafa El-Amin in those two contests. In Week 3, El-Amin was there and the Jackrabbits won by 43. While Kobe’s Rebounders didn’t have Mike Kouser in that game, the Jackrabbits were without their big man, Jake Gurkin, who is nursing an ankle injury. If the Jackrabbits can get 40-plus victories without Gurkin, imagine what they’ll do with both Gurkin and El-Amin on the floor together.

4. Jesus Disciples (1-2)

Just like the Jackrabbits, Jesus Disciples picked up its first win in Week 3 following two losses to open the season. To add the icing on the cake, it was a victory over the reigning champion All Buckets. During said game, Mike Nelson led Jesus Disciples with 10 rebounds - they’ll need him to keep hitting the boards hard if they want to win more games. Tim Robinson and Tory Whiting had 16 and 15 points, respectively, during the win and we’ll see if they can even their record in Week 4.

5. All Buckets (1-2)

The reigning champs were without the reigning MVP during Week 3 and it showed on the court, as they were defeated by the previously-winless Jesus Disciples. When their whole squad is there, they’re as tough as anyone. Hopefully, for their sake, they’ll have their full roster moving forward.

6. South Jersey Dynasty (1-2)

The South Jersey Dynasty is 1-2 on the year but still has the leagues most dominant scorer in Jabree Jackson. Their most recent game was a 20-point loss to the top-ranked Jay-Hawks. They have a ton of talent, but just like every other Jackson-led teams, it appears it’s taking a little while for them to mesh. Despite their slow star, they’ll surely be in the hunt come playoff time.
