FRANKLIN: Week 5 Power Rankings

1. The Monstars (3-0)

Without Marcus Haislip, the best player in the league and one of the best UH players in the nation, The Monstars put on a dominating performance, defeating The Fly Agents 112-69.  Tristan Haney, Chris Harris, and Sten Morgan were a three headed monster that could not be contained.  Haney had 28 points shooting 86 percent from the field, Harris had 27 points and 10 rebounds, and Morgan led all scorers and rebounders with 29 and 13.  It is hard to imagine the Monstars losing when they get this kind of production.

2.  DS (2-1)

DS started off extremely slow, poor shooting from outside the arc caused them to go into a 21-5 hole, but they stayed the course and pulled out a 74-67 victory over Ace In the Cole.  Tanner Sharpe got the rally started, after missing his first six 3-pointers he rolled off five in a row to get DS back in the game, Sharpe finished the game with a team-high 21 points.  Andrew Parker had a double double, 10 points and 10 rebounds.  DS maintains in the number two position in the power rankings until someone other than the Monstars proves they can beat them.

3.  Commissioner’s Choice (2-1)

Bye week for Commissioner’s choice, we’ll see if they time off allowed them to game plan as they go up against the Monstar’s this week and coming for that #1 spot. 

4. Ace In the Cole (1-3)

A difficult loss for Ace In the Cole, they came out strong against DS but could not hold on in the end.  Missed foul shots at the end of the game did not allow them to get within a possession as time wound down.  Eli Zeigler and Cole Theodoropoulos had great all-around games trying to bring the victory home.  Ziegler had 20 points, 8 assists, and 9 rebounds, while Theodoropoulos finished with a double-double, leading the team with 21 points and 10 rebounds.

5. Fly Agents (0-3)

The Fly Agents were just overmatched going up against The Monstars.  They were able to keep it close very early on in the game but did not have the fire power to keep up on either end of the floor.  The bright spot for the Agents was Greg Leifel, who had himself a night.  Leifel scored from all over the floor, finishing with 30 points on 71 percent shooting.  Big man Caleb Kleibscheidel contributed a double-double, 11 points and 11 rebounds.  The Agents are still looking for that first win, they’ll need Leifel to continue his scoring ways and figure out a way to get stops on the defensive end.
