LAGUNA: Week 5 Predictions

By Billy Hilliard | Laguna Media Associate

Get the Win vs. On the Rise

We start off the night with a battle of the cellar dwellers, as both of these teams look to climb out of last place in the league. This could be a momentum swing in the right direction, but one team will inevitably dig themselves a little deeper with the playoffs quickly approaching.  On paper, this is a game that Tommy Fausett's squad should be able to take care of without worry.  They'll need to get Nick Brown going in the right direction down the stretch.  Can this be the game where he finds his stride?

OTR had a tough loss last week as they were without two key contributors in Anthony Perez and Phil Spitler.  Nick Young couldn't get a lot going offensively, but Mike Schneider had a great game.  They will need more of that from him down the stretch.  OTR is going to need to knock down open outside shots to have a chance tonight.

Prediction: Get the Win by 8

G.O.A.T. vs. Hit the J

We quickly go from a matchup to solidify the league's last place team to a match up that will solidify the league's first-place team.  While Hit the J would love to have full attendance from Mason Jones, they don't seem to mind too much as they pulled in another win without their star player last week.  Dan Spitler, Tristen Gadberry, and Brian Slayback more than made up for his absence last week as Hit the J took care of the basketball by limiting turnovers and out rebounded their opponent by double figures.  While they aren't backing down with or without Jones, they would love to have him for tonight's game that will give the winner a leg up on the number-one seed for playoffs.

The nation's PPR leader sits on the other side of  tonight's equation as Mike Cox will lead GOAT into battle for first place after putting up another 40 spot last week.  To make things more daunting for Hit the J,  GOAT possesses two other top five scorers in the league, Dan Jordan (19.3) and Kyle Weidman (19.5).  I'm expecting (hoping) that these teams will light the scoreboard up tonight.

Prediction:  GOAT by 11
