GAITHERSBURG: Week 1 Predictions

7:00pm - Hampton vs Virginia Tech - It’s opening night around the league and the UH fans can’t wait to see these new look teams. The Hampton Pirates are coming into this game with a lot of confidence. They have an elite backcourt with players like Brandon Allen & Reagan Zamena and many other great players. Led by team captain Jerry McFadden who’s a back to back UH champion looking for his 3rd straight championship. But if you look across the court the Hokies have a strong unit of their own. Their a guard driven team but have very athletic players like Martrez Marshall who will easily be one of the leagues leading rebounders this season. If players like Eric Nixon, Ray Bennett and Dominique McCoy can hold their own these guys will be tough for Hampton to defeat. I’d say this game will be decided on the boards.

Prediction - Pirates by 6

8:00pm - Strayer vs Missouri - Both teams have spoke all the words they could speak at the press conference now its time to get it on! Strayer comes into this game ready to win. They have a solid core group of players and not to mention their two headed monster Shelby Jupiter and Micheal Smith. These guys will look to apply defensive pressure early on to see what Missouri has offensively. The key for Missouri will be to limit their turnovers and push the ball up the court. Luckily they have a few guys that can shoot the ball like Captain Zach Mink & Todd Parry. Other offensive duties will likely be handled by Chris “The Middle Man” Brown, Sean Sweeney and UH legend Remy Primas. This game should be a close one. I wouldn’t be surprised if it came down to a buzzer beater.
