The Top Seed Falls Again
DALLAS: Week 3 Power Rankings

1. Saggy Jammers
The Saggy Jammers find themselves in the top spot of this week’s power rankings after knocking off the former No. 1 place holder BYA by a 13-point margin in Week 2. The lone undefeated remaining in the league after two weeks, the Jammers have certainly earned this spot with two convincing wins.
The Jammers victory was once again very much a team effort as every player contributed to the overall scoring output. Bryan Rollings led the team with 19 points while also adding 6 rebounds and 7 assists to his effort. Meanwhile, Ryan Zea finished with a strong stat line of 16 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists, and Ryan Manack added 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 steals. The Jammers will look to fortify their position atop these rankings in their Week 3 matchup with The Shockers.
2. BYA
A week after knocking off the defending champs, BYA fell to the Saggy Jammers in Week 2. BYA was without team captain Nick Scrivens in the loss. The team was led by Jake Vines who put up 20 points while adding 5 rebounds and 4 assists. BYA has certainly had the toughest match ups in the first two weeks of the season and have come out the other side 1-1. They can breath a little easier headed into next week’s match up against the Free Agents.
3. Dem Boyz
Despite a win in Week 2, Dem Boyz fell again in the rankings to the No. 3 spot this week. While they find themselves a spot lower, they definitely put on a show in blow out victory over the Free Agents, outscoring their opponent 106-74 on the night.
Dem Boyz were led in scoring by Justin Mozley who finished with 32 points on 78 percent shooting, including 66 percent from the arc. Mozley’s effort was backed up by a pair of double-doubles from Maxx Nakwaasah (23 points, 13 rebounds) and Connor Henry (15 points, 18 rebounds). Dem Boyz will look to continue their winning ways in their week 3 match up with Side Hustle.
4. Scoregasms
The Scoregasms broke into the win column for the first time this season with a Week 2 win over Side Hustle, outscoring their opponent 85-79. Nick Chote poured in a team high 30 points for the Scoregasms, while Austin Smith grabbed a team best 18 rebounds in the contest. The Scoregasms will attempt to put their record over .500 when they take on The Mourning Crew in Week 3.
5. Side Hustle
After opening the season grinding out a one-point win over the Shockers in Week 1, Side Hustle looked to be on their way to an easy second win as they took a 40-32 lead into halftime in their Week 2 matchup against the Scoregasms.
However, Side Hustle weren’t able to rekindle their hot shooting in the second half and eventually fell behind by six at the time of the final buzzer. They were led by the sweet shooting of Evan Pastorelle who did damage from long range, going 7-10 from the three point line and finishing with a team-high 23 points. Side Hustle will have a tough time finding their way back into the win column when they take on Dem Boyz in Week 3.
6. The Shockers
The Shockers were able to shake off a tough Week 1 loss, and reach .500 with a winning over league newcomers The Mourning Crew in Week 2. Each of the Shockers starters reached the double digit scoring mark, with Lorenza Marshall leading the way with 25 points and 10 rebounds. Austin Villanueva (12 points, 10 rebounds) and Carson Liesfelt (10 points, 10 rebounds) each posted a double-double in the contest. The Shockers are now staring down a tough match up against the top ranked Saggy Jammers in Week 3.
7. The Morning Crew
In their first league game, The Mourning Crew put up a tough fight but eventually lost to The Shockers by five in Week 2. Despite the loss, the Mourning Crew definitely showed they have the fire power to be competitive in this league moving forward as Scott Dreiling, Ty Penson, and Jerod Frank each score at least 19 points on 50-plus percent shooting from the field. If the rest of the team can find their way around this solid core, look for the Mourning Crew to make some noise in the league in the coming weeks. Their next chance to get their first win will be against the Scoregasms in Week 3.
8. Free Agents
The Free Agents suffered an embarrassing loss in Week 2 at the hands of the defending champs, getting blown out by 32 points against Dem Boyz. Despite the lopsided defeat, the Free Agents did have two bright spots in Trent Dean and Ben Sokolsky. Trent led the team with 34 points on 58 percent shooting while Ben added 22 points on 50 percent shooting. If the rest of the Free Agents can build around these two standouts, then these team could surprise some people, this writer included. Their next chance to turn some heads and get a much desired win comes against BYA in Week 3.
