KING OF PRUSSIA: Week 2 Power Rankings

By Kenny Brown | King of Prussia League Coordinator

1. King and Duck  (1-0)

The reigning Summer League Champs are back with captain Marcus Gaskins leading the way. Marcus and Company came out opening night and dominated the Injured List team who on paper looked almost unbeatable. King and Duck left no doubt who the best team on the league is and didn’t miss a beat easily winning by 26 points. They return their entire championship team and the addition of 6’5 Ty Teasly makes this team the early favorites to repeat.

2. Monstars  (1-0)

The Monstars are BACK but opened up the Fall Season winning their Week 1 game by only three points. Captain Mike Sidebotham brought back league-leading scorer Adam Kovacs, Matt Hamscher, and added the original Monstar former league MVP, leading scorer and rebounder Kyle Dolby who hasn’t played since he won the very first league championship and hung the banner in King of Prussia. Mike also brought in sharp shooter Tom Fenstermacher who can fill it up from deep. This team is loaded and will challenge for the coveted championship banner.

3. Sunline  (1-0)

Sunline formerly known as The Process coming off a tough loss in the Summer League Championship has reloaded and come back for revenge. Winning their opening night game by eight, they showed grit and competitiveness coming from behind. Captain Mark Lepine recruited almost every person he works with to play on his Fall League team with seven of the 10 players all working for Arnold’s Furniture. They return big time point guard Donte McDaniel, former league MVP Pete Martignetti, and veteran guard Aaron Eubanks. New additions include crafty guard Shawn Hliwski and super-aggressive Adibiel Ortiz, who attacks the basket with no regard. This team is deep, tough, and have one thing in mind: championship or bust.

4. Hit Squad  (1-0)

The Hit Squad dominated their Week 1 opponent winning by 53 points and putting the league on notice that they are back and ready to put in that work. Captain Kenny Brown returns his Spring championship team minus big man Chandler Simon but adding big man 6’6, 280-pound Larry Tape Jr., slashing forward Phil Cavalcante, deep threat Adam Shute and veteran point guard Mike Monroe are three key players that help guide this well-rounded team. Continuity and basketball are what separates this group from the rest.

5. KOP’s Finest  (0-1)

KOP’s Finest roster consists of Ultimate Hoops league veterans Dan Reardon and Bill Crowley along with the rookie quick guard tandem of Mekhi Clemon and Steve Coachi who are flat out game changers. Coming off a Week 1 nail biter, this squad has what it takes to challenge every team week in and week out.

6. Pippen Aint Easy  (0-1)

The newly added team “Pippen Aint Easy” is a mixture of vets and new players. Deep threat Alex Riley returns along with big man Jeff Nuebert, adding big time slasher and new to the league Joe Colangelo, who will surprise everyone with his athletic ability and attack mentality. They also add first-timer Chris Reardon, who looks to bring the competitive spirit and lots of energy to the team. Point guard Christian Snead hopes his leadership and can help get this team in the mix and make a run at the coveted Banner.

7. Injured List (0-1)

Captain Andrew Cvitanov put together this team of veteran players who are often on the “Injured List “ hence the team name, but when healthy this squad is deadly. After losing Week 1 to the defending champs King and Duck by 26 points, this team needs to regroup. Big time scorer Jeff Miller can flat out fill it up and score from anywhere on the floor. Add in Slashers Eric Straub and Mike Zhadkevich, along with big men Tom Dellafranco and Chris Shelton, things can get really interesting this season. On paper this team should not lose, but they are missing one key piece: a true point guard.

8. Maverace  (0-1)

Team Maverace is a new addition to the Ultimate Hoops league, as they bring their own seven guys that I can honestly say they came in Week 1 not knowing how competitive the league really is. Losing Week 1 by 53 points, they had a great attitude and great sportsmanship. The first season will be a long season for this group, but lessons will be learned along the way.
