Down Goes the Champs

RALEIGH: Week 2 Power Rankings

By Thomas Hunt | Raleigh League Coordinator

1. The Heat

After putting on an offensive clinic from deep and from mid-range. The Heat were led by Chase Tyler, Thomas Hunt and Choo Little. The Heat look as if they may have the offensive power to shoot anyone out of a game.

2. Raleigh Elite

This team is scrappy and knows how to play together, which could be big trouble for teams this season. After knocking off the Lifetime Rebels in a game that was hyped up for weeks, they are looking like they may be a force to reckon with this season.

3. The Defenders

I had a feeling this team could be really good, but I had absolutely no idea they would knock off the defending champs in their very first Ultimate Hoops games. These guys are scary athletic and can get up and down the floor. The pace they play could be trouble for a lot of teams this season.

4. Lifetime Rebels

Even after losing to Raleigh Elite, the Rebels still remain in the top four. This team is still deadly from behind the arc, and with the experience they have you can never count this team out.

5. D.R.

D.R. was the team that no one truly knew. But this team of mostly family made all the right plays at the right time to run away with the game. Their defense and post game is something that could make it a long night for the opposing team.

6. Unsigned Hype

The defending champs seemed to have everything going their way in the first half last week. But in the second half everything just seemed forced and uncomfortable.

7. Kings

The Kings put up a great fight against the Heat last week. They have some really good pieces, and if they can get them to click at the right time they could make some real noise this season.

8. Monstars

The Monstars looked out of it from the jump last week. They had way too many mental errors and could never recover from it. I’m hoping they can put all that behind them so we can see the team that made that championship run last season.
