Can Dem Boyz go Back-to-Back?

DALLAS: Preseason Power Rankings

By Maxx Nakwaasah | Dallas League Coordinator

1. Dem Boyz

Returning virtually the same roster Dem Boyz enter the season as the favorites. Loaded with offensive talents, including league MVP Jemarri Gunn, this team is solid at every position and ready to defend their title.

2. BYA

Despite a disappointing semifinals loss last season, this could be BYA’s year. Always solid defensively, BYA has a reputation at the league’s most unselfish team. Several times, BYA has had all players score in double figures, a feat not often accomplished in the league. BYA has also added Mike Swisher to the mix, giving them yet another inside scoring threat and defensive rebounder. Look for BYA to be even better defensively with the added front court depth.

3. Saggy Jammer

Always in the hunt for a championship, the Jammers, when all present, pose a threat to any team. The three-headed monster of Zea, Rolllings, and sixth man Ozata will give many teams matchup nightmares.

4. Scoregams

Coming up two possessions short of a championship last year, the Scoregasms feature a guard-heavy attack with Staton, Anson, and Tom. Ross Self is very solid inside option with a soft touch and willingness to pass out of the post. Consistent 3-point shooting can make this team very dangerous.

5. Side Hustle

Chris Martinez and Spencer Barrett will benefit greatly from the poise and composure that EJ Nevarez brings to the table. Dylan Thompson has emerged as one of the league’s most athletic, exciting players.

6. Shockers

Martin Salinas will do most of the heavy lifting for this squad, but look for Carson Lisenfelt to have a big impact in his second UH season.

7. Free Agents

Little is known about this team, but they will have their work cut out for them.
