2023 NYC National Tournament Preview

2023 NYC National Tournament Preview

It’s about that time again. Ultimate Hoops National Manager Donald Dangmuk gives his predictions for the 2023 NYC National Tournament!

  1. Ball So Hard (AZ) +300

I’m just curious what gang signs will they throw up with 11 rings in the team championship photo? There is not enough fingers to make 11?

  2. FMB (NY) +500

The talent pool in Westchester has grown a lot in the past year with 8 teams in the Spring league for GM Fred Basso. It only makes sense to put them at #2 as they are the only team from New York in the tournament.

  3. Dream Team (GA) +700

Only one team from the ATL this year. Is this the Dream Team we been waiting for to dethrone Ball So Hard? This team looks like a combination of Final Chapter and LTC Tree which is what all the fans from Georgia been waiting for.

  4. PTB (TX) +1000

I might be a little delusional putting a team that finished 0-3 in Vegas this high. But I see some new recruits from Florida and San Antonio that might really help this team make a run. Boca Raton star Greer Wright and San Antonio big man Chris Johnson are nice key additions to team up with star guard Marcus Hall.

  5. Baseline (TX) +1100

I’m guessing they didn’t learn anything from 2022 that it’s very hard to win a tournament with only 6 players on the roster? Baseline always a perennial final 4 team but this years tournament is a bit deeper than years past. Its going to be tough to repeat last years incredible run with only 6 on the roster.

  6. Ultimate Oops (TX) +1500

Will this team be forever remembered as the only team to beat Ball So Hard in NYC. Were they just a one hit wonder? Get the popcorn ready for their rematch with BSH on Saturday. It should be a fun one.

  7. CTE (MD) +1800

The talent pool in Columbia has expanded to 13 teams so they should have plenty of talent to load the roster. I’m sure they are coming in fired up after their disappointing showing in Vegas. Team Captain Kenny Zeigler won’t make the trip so who’s going to lead them to the promise land?

  8. DMV (MD) +2000

You know the tournament is pretty deep when I have former champs DMV ranked #8 on the list. But hard to rank them when they still don’t even know who’s on the roster yet. But if there is some combination of Byron Mouton and Brandon Allen in the mix, I can see this team being the surprise team of the tournament and making a run.

  9. Motivation (MA) +3000

The Boston boys are back. They might not be the most talented group but they are definitely one of the most entertaining groups led by popular basketball influencer David “Mak” Thompson. Looking forward to having them back part of the show!

  10. Takeover (MA) +5000

This team is falling apart, literally. At the time of this writing we are unsure who will be replacing team Takeover in the tournament.
