WESTWOOD: Week 1 Predictions

By David Jordan | Westwood Media Associate

It doesn’t get any better than this!!! First week of the fall season and we already have a slate of can’t miss games! The competition in Westwood will be at an all time high, and that is attributed to the return of some heavy hitters to the Westwood league. Every team has championship expectations in week one, but only the strong will survive. Westwood, It’s go time!

7 p.m. – Posterized (0-0) vs. Legacy (0-0)

What better way to start the season than with what has the potential to be the #GOTW! Ace comes into the season still seeking his first league championship, and with the roster of Legacy, he has a great chance at getting it. A #FunFactStat: In the past 5 seasons, Ace has faced off against Mak regardless of what team each of them have been on.  Could this be a low-key rival brewing? Regardless, Rodney Lemite is eager to remind the league exactly who he is. Chemistry will be a huge factor in the game, as it’s Week 1 and every team has to find their footing. For that reason, I believe Legacy wins this in a close one.

Prediction: Legacy

7 p.m. – Spartans (0-0) vs. All Style (0-0)

The Spartans and All Style will probably both feel slighted by the preseason rankings. That’s understandable, but this will be the perfect time to prove the league wrong. I don’t have much faith in the Spartans just yet, but All Style may be on to something. The combination of Duke, Royce, Rennie, Diaz and Derek will prove too much for the Spartans.

Prediction: All Style

8 p.m. – Ea$y Money (0-0) vs. Ballaz Club (0-0)

Can you say “GAME. OF. THE. WEEEEEEEK!”. This matchup was very close to becoming the game of the week. Two teams who shouldn’t have much chemistry issues will battle it out. Besides, it’s always a classic when two of UH Boston’s top veterans in LaPlanche and McLaughlin go head to head. It’s literally a toss up as to who will win this game. We know that Ballaz Club has a slight advantage in size, and we respect it, but the way they ended last season doesn’t sit well with me, and something tells me that Steph Eusebe and Stephen Prescod are both in for big games. Steph vs Tim , Round 1…It’s gonna be a good one! E$ will start off down a leg with Curtis Williams missing opening night, but it should still be a great one.

Prediction: Ballaz Club

8 p.m. – Beast Mode (0-0) vs. Ruff Ryders (0-0)

We get yet another great game between Beast Mode and Rough Ryders. The question for both teams will be which team is going to show up? Ruff Ryders will need to build chemistry. Is Octavio back to the Octavio we all know? I believe he is the x-factor, and will have the Ruff Ryders in a great place at season’s end. However, we don't know which O we will get. For now, I'm taking Beast Mode.

Prediction: Beast Mode
