GILBERT DRAFT: Week 1 Predictions

By Adam Butler | Gilbert Media Associate

Welcome back Gilbert! I’m excited to get back into the swing of the season, I know you missed me. Let’s get into my Week 1 predictions.

7:30 p.m. - Generation Z vs. Team Seth

Seems like Seth has broken out of the shell he was in on draft night, and will be joining us in Gilbert for Week 1. Team Seth has plenty of fire power by bringing together Anthony Smith and his brother, Terrill Clayburne. On the other end, Thomas Aranda reunites with his teammate from last season, Marco Battistessa and snags newly crowned champ, Jayton Holmes. This game should be interesting, but I’m going with the nameless squad in this one.

Prediction: Team Seth by 11

7:30 p.m. - Road Runners vs. Drip Too Hard

NEWS FLASH: Adam Bickerstaff and Christian Bower are good. Coming off a championship they add in another valuable scorer in Danny Giang. Road to the back to back starts now. Meanwhile Tae Fox and Marco Garcia are ready to get after it. This will be a close game strictly because Tae will be somewhere in the 50-point area, but I think Drip Too Hard gets the nudge here.

Prediction: Drip Too Hard by 5

8:30 p.m. - D4G vs. Bombers

Not even sure what D4G stands for, but they look solid. If captain Erick Booker and Brent Woods space the floor and slash to the basket and let Jeremiah Price and Carlos Nosie do what they do, they’ll be alright. On the other side, we have a questionable first-overall pick from Marcus Washington. He picked his BFF Mark Morgan. They’re named the Bombers but I’m not sure how many bombs they’ll be dropping.

Prediction: D4G by 22

8:30 p.m. - Team James vs. Team Monte

Boring team names, but in our second 8:30 p.m. game we have two high-scoring duos, paired with a high-flying forward. I feel like between Omar Duran and Monte, there will be a lot of shots taken, and between Ray Estrella and Melvin Orji, a lot of rebounds. I’ll certainly be watching this one. Question is, who is guarding Calvin Logins Sr?

Prediction: Team Monte by 11

That’s it for me. Good luck to everyone tonight!
