Gunnin' 4 LC takes down L.C. Comine's Easy Go Travelers

It’s always a bold move to have your team name based solely on trying to beat another team. If you’re going to do that, you have to be able to back it up, and that’s what Gunnin’ 4 LC and team captain, Tony Daly, did last night in the Summerlin Vet League.

Both teams came into last night’s matchup undefeated, and it was Gunnin’ 4 LC that came away still perfect, as they picked up an 80-67 victory.

“We had a playoff atmosphere tonight. Our guys were hyped, we looked at the video from last week, everybody had comments on the chat. We were ready to go,” Daly said in a post-game interview with L.C. Comine.

The video Daly is referring to came last week between Comine and Hollis Hale, where they established Easy Go Travelers as 10-point favorites against Gunnin’ 4 LC if Leonard Mitchell was present. If he didn’t show up, they said the line could shift to -20 or -30 in favor of the Easy Go Travelers.

Daly left a comment on the video to hype up the matchup even more: “Just sent the video to our team group chat. This is a classic example of a pre-game interview that just fuels the fire. We are coming for you old men!”

Unfortunately for Easy Go Travelers, Mitchell did show up, and he was the best player on the floor. He scored a team-high 25 points on 11-14 shooting, adding eight rebounds, four assists and two steals.

It’s clear from their team name that Gunnin’ 4 LC was going to give a full effort in this game, and they were able to back up the hype of this matchup and take down the defending champs. Unfortunately for Gunnin’ 4 LC, they had to play a second game last night. They weren’t able to keep the same energy into their second matchup, as they lost for the first time this season, a 94-78 loss to Summerlin Shooters.

I’d imagine Daly and the rest of the team can live with that, as their name isn’t Gunnin’ 4 Summerlin Shooters. They accomplished the mission statement of their team name, so a couple regular season losses won’t hurt them. We’ll see what happens if there’s a rematch in the playoffs.
