OOMG Wins Big Game Against Buckeyes

GREEN VALLEY VET B: Week 5 Power Rankings

By Michael Palmer | Green Valley Media Associate

1. Bhoudini (3-0)

Bhoudini received a bye week and will face the Buckeyes next.

2. GoodFellas (3-0)

GoodFellas received a bye week and will face the OOMG next.

3. OOMG (3-0)

OOMG were 10-point favorites to beat the Buckeyes and that's exactly what they did. Sam Earl had a fantastic performance scoring a season-high 39 points and was clutch from the charity stripe going 8-13. Mike Anderson was feeling it from downtown going 6-9 and scored a total of 22 points on 10 rebounds. Of course the key to OOMG beating the Buckeyes was of course getting to the free throw line as they went 17-23. They also played very well on defense collecting nine steals and is having themselves a great first half of the season.

4. Buckeyes (2-2)

The Buckeyes had a five-point lead at the half against OOMG, but they couldn't hold on to the lead and fell by 10 points. Joe Paulk (25 points, 13 rebounds) and Dominic Pedotto (21 points, 10 rebounds) got themselves double-doubles, and Paulk was in foul trouble early and often, ending the game with six fouls. The Buckeyes have shooters all over the court, and I know that this team is capable of moving up in the rankings.

5. Old School (2-2)

Old School only scored 48 points against 44 Minutes, but that's all they needed as they held the opposition to 47 points. Brian Stanton had a fantastic performance scoring a game-high 20 points and even made a pair of 3s. Alex Cabrera is back to his scoring ways getting himself a season-high 12 points and shot 50 percent from the field. They were without some of their big men, but that was alright as they out-rebounded 44 Minutes 33-30. Those Guys will be next on the schedule.

6. Alcoballics (2-1)

What a game for the Alcoballics as Kerry Knoll scored a game-high 45 points and made an incredible 15 3s en route to a 103-66 win against the RudeDogs. How about Luis Maceira's triple-double of 19 points, 20 rebounds and 10 assists. He's also delivering in the clutch and is a key player as always for this team. Robert Lew earned himself another double-digit scoring game getting himself 19 points, while Jay Schuttert scored 10 points on 10 rebounds. This was a great rebounding performance as they out-rebounded the RudeDogs 67-50.

7. RudeDogs (1-3)

This was a tough week for the RudeDogs as they lost to the Alcoballics by 37 points. Anthony Khotsikian and Dan Orozco grabbed a combined 31 rebounds and fought all the way until the final whistle blew. Evan Hunt scored a team-high 21 points, while Khotsikian earned his second double-double of the season. They only made two threes and I know that some guys on this team can make a good amount of threes. They should hopefully bounce back and get some of their guys to respond next time around against 44 Minutes.

8. Boozers (1-3)

The Boozers were without a lot of their top-tier players, but were still able to defeat Those Guys with a 59-39 final. Mike Wethington scored a game-high 17 points on 16 rebounds, while Jeff Traylor was the other Boozer to score in double figures getting himself 16 points. Milo Berger was every on the floor, collecting 13 rebounds and as a team, they shot 64 percent from the charity stripe. Not that the Boozers got their first win out of the way, can they move up in the power rankings with some quality wins?

9. Those Guys (1-3)

Scoring 39 points is brutal, and that's what Those Guys did in a loss to the Boozers. They only made 15 field goals all game long and got to the free-throw line four times. Zee Shan, per usual, scored a team-high 13 points on 11 rebounds, while Christian Hyderkhan grabbed a double-double of 11 points on 13 boards. The rest of their schedule is going to be tough and it's going to take everything they have to get another win in the books.

10. 44 Minutes (0-4)

44 Minutes held Old School to just 48 points, but that wasn't enough as they fell by just one point. Michael Cornachio and newcomer Alex Vittek were the only players to score in double figures as they both scored 19 points apiece. Jeremy Peltz was also the only player to collect double-digit rebounds as he got 10 of them, but didn't score any points. I don't know when this team will get a win, and it's not going to be easy for the last half of the season.
