DALLAS: Week 4 Power Rankings

By Travis Hill | Dallas Media Associate

1. Saggy Jammers

The Saggy Jammers maintained their position atop these power rankings with a blowout win over The Shockers, 79-50.  The Jammers were once again led by the quality of Bryan Rollings who dominated the box score leading all players in points with 24, rebounds with 16, and assists with 7.  Rollings was backed up by Ryan Sea who scored 13 points on just seven shots, while adding 9 rebounds.  The Jammers will look to make it 4-0 next week against The Morning Crew.

2. BYA

The Back Yard All-Stars coasted to a 2-1 record with an easy win over the Free Agents this past week.  With only five players in the line up, Michael Swisher make his debut in the starting line-up with BYA, and he did not disappoint, as he went for 29 points and 13 rebounds.  Dave Flaherty all posted a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Bryan Walls added 22 points to the winning effort.  BYA will look to keep things rolling when they take on Side Hustle in Week 4.

3. Dem Boyz

After falling behind early, down by 14 at half, Dem Boyz came out red hot in the second half, out-scoring Side Hustle by 21 in the second frame of the contest which led to a 95-88 victory this past week.  Dem Boyz were led by reigning MVP Jemarri Gunn who poured in 40 points off the bench, in a rare sixth man role.  Maxx Nakwaasah added a double-double to the effort with 15 points and 10 rebounds.  Next week Dem Boyz will be eyeing three straight victories when they take on the Scoregasms.

4. Scoregasms

Staton Standridge made his return to the line up this week and made an immediate impact, leading the Scoregasms to a 86-75 victory over The Morning Crew, with a game-high 34 points.  Austin Smith added 12 points and 17 rebounds for the Scoregasms, while Nick Chote was the team’s second leading scorer with 23 points on the evening.  Next week the Scoregasms will look to make a move up in the rankings as they take on Dem Boyz.

5. Side Hustle

Side Hustle look great in the first half of their game against Dem Boyz this week as they build a 51-37 halftime league.  However, having only five players active for the game meant fatigue was bound to set in.  Side Hustle did not have the legs to keep up their run-and-gun pacing into the second half and they eventually lost the contest 95-88.  Side Hustle was paced in scoring by Chris Martinez who had 30 points, and was followed by Evan Pastorelle’s 23 points.  The team also had a pair of double-doubles. Spencer Barrett had 14 points and 14 rebounds, while Forrest Thompson had 14 points and 16 rebounds.  Side Hustle has another difficult match up looming for next week when they take on BYA.

6. The Shockers

The Shockers struggled to get anything going this past week as they got thumped by the Saggy Jammers, 79-50.  The lone bright spot on The Shockers roster for the evening was Lorenza Marshall and his 19 points.  The Shockers have a more favorable match up to look forward to in Week 4 when they take on the Free Agents.

7. The Morning Crew

While The Morning Crew continues to find its footing in the DAC League, they definitely have some strong offensive weapons to work with, especially Ty Penson and Josh Wormington, who both scored a team-high 23 points.  The Morning Crew’s search for their first win might have to wait a little longer, as they face an even tougher challenge next week against the Saggy Jammers.

8. Free Agents

The Free Agents dug themselves a early hole, falling behind BYA 44-22 by halftime, from which they were never able to recover even when BYA took their foot of the gas late in the second half.  Right now the most important thing for the Free Agents is finding consistency.  Last week’s leading scorer, Trent Dean, only managed 7 points.  The team did add Rahsaan Talley who put up a game-high 32 points.  If the Free Agents can get everyone hitting at the same time then they’ve got a chance to get some wins in the near future.  Their next chance at a win will come against The Shockers in Week 4.
