Hollis Hale: The 100-point Man
Each week, we search through our 360 media coverage to highlight the week that was in Ultimate Hoops Leagues.
Hollis Hale set the Green Valley vet league record books on fire on Thursday night when he scored 100 points in a 166-68 win for the Easy Go Travelers. Unsurprisingly, the 100 points was the most scored in a game in Green Valley vet league history. Hale scored 96 of his points from the three-point line, as he hit 32, another record in the Green Valley vet league. Hale was 18 points behind Mike DiNunno's all-time Ultimate Hoops record of 118 points. Hale surpassed 1,300 threes in the win as well; he now has 1,309 in his UH career.
Another century mark was reached this week, although it took an entire team and not just one player. The Knights scored 100 points in their win over the Griffins this week in the Dream League, making them the first team to to score 100 points in Dream League history. In the win, Bryan Munsell led all scorers with 31 points, and 12 of those points came off three converted 'four-point plays'. That had never happened in the Dream League before, and we have yet to hear any other times it's happened in the history of basketball. Munsell also surpassed 1,000 career made threes in the win, so it was a milestone-filled game.
Later in the night, the Pilots beat the Mustangs, which gave Jon Goodridge his 200th career win in his Ultimate Hoops career.
Evan Wilson will play in his 300th career Ultimate Hoops game on Saturday when he plays in the Shelby vet league. He'll sit exactly at 300 games, and he currently sits exactly at 100 blocks. He has one block this season, which happened in week five, and it was his 100th.
Danny Dziedzic scored 39 points on Sunday in Palm Valley in a one-point win for Buncha Hoopers. That gives Dziedzic 3,004, making him the 182nd player to surpass 3,000 points in UH history.
