More Fridley Predictions... Week 7
Lance Buscher puts up 20 points in a losing effort
More Fridley Predictions... Week 7
Alright certain people have inspired me to put up some more predictions, so Eric Hawkins I am challenging you to out pick me for these last two weeks (should be easy considering my picks are often bias and last time I did this one was decided on a coin flip). Shout out to Izzy Elkaffas, impressive prediction article last week, good thing you didn't go back and erase what you already typed though. (19.9... smh) Now on to the Picks...
Hand Down... Man Down (2-4) vs. Secret Agents (0-6)
Great game to start out with! This is clearly a classic example of "don't let the record fool you". The team commonly known as HDMD has beaten a (1-5) Unpredictables team that squeezed out their first win against the Secret Agents this week and a (2-3) Nets team by 4 points that had no productivity from their GM Brandon Laurencot who played 28 minutes in the game before he went M.I.A. As for the Secret Agents, they have had stretches where they have played good basketball and have almost forced a couple of upsets. This game is going to be a lot closer than most think, but I'm still going to have to go with HDMD.

Ninja Turtles (5-1) vs. Yung Gunz (2-4)
The Turtles as most of us know are coming off of a crushing overtime loss to the Celtics last week, on a Marcus Marshall buzzer beater that followed a controversial call on the other end. The Turtles are most likely determined to win out and get ready for a rematch in the playoffs at this point, I think they're going to win this one easily, but the Yung Gunz are a pretty good team this season. They gave Respect the Game a run for their money last week in a 6 point loss. I believe they are capable of pulling off an upset of this magnitude, I just don't think its going to happen this week.

Noisy Withdrawal (2-4) vs. Bulls (3-3)
Noisy is another team this season that has only beaten the Secret Agents and the Nets to earn their 2 wins, although I think Noisy is a slightly better team than HDMD (especially without Sarak). Although they only had 4 players when they played the Bulls last season, they lost 100 to 47. I just don't think they will be able to pressure the league's leading scorer enough to get a win. The Bulls for some reason are just highly inconsistent in Fridley, they beat a team like Respect the Game (giving them their only loss of the season) and then they lose to the Greenhorns... I just don't really know what to think of them this season, but they will beat Noisy.

Cobra Kai (2-4) vs. Greenhorns (3-3)
Cobra Kai is a much better team than their record might express, but they really really struggled (10-50) against the 2-3 zone of D.Y.Nasty last week and now have to face another zone this week. Hopefully for their sake Dustin Dupont will return and give his team some idea of what to do against a zone because last week they were more lost than the Nets were last season. The Greenhorns have won 2 straight and are playing well since their loss to the Nets which is why I expect a really close game in this one. Cobra faced the Turtles in the last week of the season and I just can't see that team going 2-6 on the season so I'm going to select them in a nail biter.

Celtics (6-0) vs. Avengers (4-2)
The Celtics as mentioned above kept their undefeated season alive last week on an OT buzzer beater against the Turtles. For the most part they have run over every other team they have played this season and I expect it to continue. I do think that like Cobra Kai did, they can keep it within 20 points though. The Avengers are a great team in this league and have only 2 losses coming to 2 of the top 3 teams in the standings, but unfortunately I think they are going to lose to that 3rd team this week.

Unpredictables (1-5) vs. Nets (2-3)
The Unpredictables earned their first win of the season last week against the Secret Agents and they had to squeeze it out at the end to get it. This team has just plain underachieved this season and now that they don't really have much to play for I don't see anything changing anytime soon. The Nets are coming off of a loss to Noisy Withdrawal, a team that they clearly expected to beat. Paris Curren was quoted saying "We are going to win out in Fridley unfortunately for you guys" (talking to me). Well... after beating the Greenhorns by 15 and thrashing the Secret Agents by 20 I could see that there was some reasonable amount confidence behind the statement, but then they go and lose to Noisy. The Nets are just really really unpredictable so its kind of fitting that's who they play this week. The Unpredictables though have just had a disasterous season thus far and look for it to continue.

Respect the Game (5-1) vs. D.Y. Nasty (4-1)
Respect the Game has had a few surprisingly close games this season letting the Unpredictables and the Yung Gunz (last week) hang around, but nonetheless they have 5 wins and that's all that matters. They are tied with the Turtles for the second best record and a lock for the playoffs. D.Y. Nasty is coming off of a win last week that NO ONE in this league expected to see. Many like people like Izzy, even envisioned us getting blown out. We held Cobra to just 20% shooting from the field, which made up for our own horrific shooting. I think our team now knows that defense wins games and although this week is going to be a much tougher matchup I think we can escape with a win.
