WARRENVILLE: No Size wins early showdown verse Balln | Rookie Derik Hollyfield erupts for 32
WARRENVILLE, IL
NO SIZE 76 BALLN 62
-In a very important early regular season showdown between the two clubs with most victories in the history of Chicago No Size out dueled Balln for the 76-62 victory.
Both teams not happy with their finish in the winter season really made some offseason moves to try and reload and possibly compete this spring for an Ultimate Hoops city championship. Many familiar faces among the Chicago region have been added to these two powerhouse clubs, but it was the Ultimate Hoops rookie Derik Hollyfield who had the most impact in this one.
The rookie guard exploded on the scene early with an arsenal of three point bombs helping No Size establish a 36-27 halftime edge. No Size really did an exceptional job the first half locking up the Balln offense limiting the opposition to only 27 halftime points. They were able to hold Balln center T. Roots to only 12 points in the game after Roots went off for 56 points last week.
The second half the athletic combination of Hollyfield and Rob Odumuyiwa took over and Balln was not able to match the intensity level. Hollyfield finished with 32 points in his rookie debut including a high light reel ally-oop dunk to put the exclamation point on the game. Odumuyiwa finished with 17 points while off guard Markus Williams also chipped in 15.
This was definitely an early statement as No Size is apparently the team to beat in the Warrenville league. They have definitely improved their athleticism and really look like a major contender in Chicago. It will be very interesting to see where they stack up when the seasons first rankings come out the beginning of next week.
